Also known as Schorl Tourmaline, Black Tourmaline is found in a prism shape in nature. It belongs to the Silicate mineral group, in relation to its chemical composition. In addition to the black color, it is also known for its rarer blue, green and even transparent variations. Tourmaline is a crystalline mineral composed of elements such as potassium, aluminum, iron, sodium, magnesium and lithium. The amount of each of these elements will define the appearance and final color of the yolk, in the case of Black Tourmaline, it is rich in sodium.
The Black Tourmaline acts on the base chakra (red dot) providing a protective shield against all negative energies. It repels negative energies. For this reason it is suggested that people always carry a black tourmaline with them for protection.
